8am Traditional Service

A traditional Anglican service of Holy Communion.

This service is traditional in content but relaxed and personable in style. We follow through the Prayer Book (AAPB) with variety and thoughtfulness. We sing mainly from the Hymn Book, but with a selection of more modern hymns and choruses. We have an organ as well as a keyboard and occasionally even a guitar. We have a small group of singers who will perform an item on special occasions. Each time we meet together we devote a good amount of time to readings from Scripture and a sermon. And we always celebrate Holy Communion. Also, at the conclusion of each service we have the opportunity for anyone who has a special prayer request to be prayed with and for.

Of course, we do all of this in a friendly, relaxed and personable way. Since we have no group to cater for young children, we tend to be quieter and more reflective in style, but we're not silent or cold or impersonal. Likewise, we might aim to be solemn, but we're not at all interested in being stuffy; we want to be thoroughly reverent, without being religious.

Our service tends to run for a little over an hour and is followed immediately by morning tea in the church hall.
